About Stevia

Stevia is a natural, zero-calorie, plant-derived sweetener made from the purified steviol glycosides of the Stevia rebaudiana leaf. Between roughly 200 and 350 times sweeter than sugar, it is the leading natural high-intensity sweetener, used to reduce or replace sugar in beverages, dairy, confectionery, tabletop sweeteners, nutraceuticals and pharmaceuticals, with no calories and no glycaemic impact. Its key selling points are being natural, zero-calorie and non-glycaemic, the combination driving clean-label sugar reduction. Grades are defined by their steviol glycoside profile: high-purity rebaudioside A (Reb A 97%/98%) gives the cleanest, most sugar-like taste, while stevioside and total-steviol-glycoside grades are more economical. Industrial buyers sourcing Stevia in bulk also track stevia pricing closely, since it feeds directly into their downstream costs which is why working with an established stevia supplier and distributor like Elchemy matters.

  • Natural Sweetener: Derived from the Stevia plant, offering a natural alternative to artificial sweeteners.
  • Function: Sweetener, Flavor Enhancer
  • Calorie-Free: Provides sweetness without adding calories, ideal for weight management and diabetic-friendly products.
  • Features: Zero-calorie, natural plant origin, high sweetness intensity (200-400x sugar), heat stable.
  • High Sweetness Intensity: 200-300 times sweeter than sugar, allowing for reduced usage and cost savings.
  • Benefits: Does not raise blood glucose or insulin levels, making it suitable for diabetics. Aids in weight management by reducing caloric intake. Non-cariogenic (does not cause tooth decay).
  • Heat Stable: Suitable for cooking and baking applications, maintaining sweetness under high temperatures.
  • Flavor Enhancer: Improves taste profiles by masking bitterness and enhancing overall flavor.

What is the difference between stevia and sucralose?
Both are high-intensity, zero-calorie sweeteners, but stevia is naturally derived from a plant leaf (steviol glycosides), while sucralose is made by chlorinating sugar. Stevia is chosen for natural, clean-label positioning; sucralose has a more neutral taste and slightly higher heat stability. They are sometimes blended together.
Is stevia the same as steviol glycosides or Reb A?
Yes the stevia sweetener sold commercially is purified steviol glycosides, of which rebaudioside A (Reb A) is the preferred, best-tasting one. E960 is the food-additive designation. 'Stevia' is the plant and the common name for the sweetener.
Can you ship Stevia to the USA, UK and UAE?
Yes. Elchemy is a global stevia supplier and distributor shipping to the USA, UK, UAE and 40+ countries, with the regulatory documentation each market requires (FDA/EPA, REACH, GSO and more). We handle freight, customs paperwork and delivery.

Every order includes a Certificate of Analysis, Technical Data Sheet and GHS-aligned Safety Data Sheet, plus packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin on request the documentation professional buyers expect from a reliable stevia manufacturer and supplier.
How is stevia used in beverages?
High-Reb-A stevia sweetens zero- and reduced-sugar drinks at roughly 0.02–0.06% of the formula, with no calories and no glycaemic impact. It is heat- and pH-stable, and is commonly blended with erythritol or another sweetener to give a rounder, more sugar-like taste and mask any liquorice note.
