With the chemical formula H3PO4, phosphoric acid is an inorganic, colorless, and odorless substance. A common ingredient in fertilizers, it is a significant industrial chemical. Take away all three H+ ions and it forms esters known as organophosphates. Aside from being an external standard for phosphorus-NMR, phosphoric acid is also used as an anti-rust treatment and to stop iron oxidation. Chemical metal polishing, microfabrication, skincare, dairy, food, and compound semiconductor manufacturing are some of the other sectors that employ it.
